In order to make the snow sculptures we do, no one person has the talents and skills to create the best sculpture. We rely on the skills, strengths, and passions of each team member to create something better than any one of us could do on our own!
CORE TEAM
Austin Bartz
Hi! I’m Austin! I have been snow sculpting since 2012. I do most of the media relations, planning and admin work for the snow sculptures. I have always enjoyed being outside & in God’s creation since I was just a little boy! People ask me, “why do you snow sculpt?”. There are multiple reasons… I love being outside, building, creating & love how these sculptures bring clean water for those who do not have access to it. Although it is hard, stressful and time consuming it’s all worth it in the end! I put a lot of pressure on myself to make the snow sculptures an enjoyable experience for everyone. I currently live in New Brighton & in the process of building a home in Lino Lakes. Outside of snow sculpting I enjoy anything outside; fishing, hunting, shed hunting, & hanging out with my nephew Wade. I also love spending time with my brother, as we own a landscape company together & enjoy many of the same outdoor activities. I work a lot…probably too much. I'm known for the guy who works “crazy hours”. 90 hour work weeks are not out of the question for me. Jesus is the most important part of my life, and I try to live my life to honor him.
Connor Bartz
Hi! I’m Connor Bartz, the youngest of the Bartz Boys. My wife Laiken & I live in Lino Lakes. We are looking forward to having our first kid, a baby boy! I love snow sculpting & all the challenges & excitement it brings! My main role is helping design the layout, getting equipment running & working! In my free time I enjoy spending time with my wife, hunting, fishing & playing games. I own a landscape company with my brother & I am grateful to have a job I enjoy!
Trevor Bartz
Hi, I'm Trevor! I am blessed to share my life with my incredible wife, Megan, and our son, Wade. Our home is filled with laughter, love, and the anticipation of welcoming another little one into our family soon. There's something magical about the stillness and quietness that accompanies a snowstorm. It's as if the world pauses, forcing me to relax and appreciate the beauty of the moment. One of my greatest joys is spending quality time with my family. Whether it's going on leisurely walks, exploring nature trails, or engaging in playful activities, those moments bring endless amount of joy to my life. I've found my professional calling at Altimate Medical, where I work passionately as an engineer. The ability to use engineering to improve people's lives is not just a job but a fulfilling mission. It's incredibly rewarding to know that my work contributes to enhancing the quality of life for others.
Luke McCann
Hi, I’m Luke! I enjoy every beautiful seasons we have here. The Boundary Waters Canoe Area is my favorite place in MN. Regarding the snow sculpture, I love how it brings the community together. I live in Mahtomedi. In my free time I enjoy camping & hunting. This winter I will be doing a lot of snow sculpting, cross-country skiing with my wife, sauna sessions, woodworking, and reading around our wood burning stove.
OTHER HELP
Dave Bartz
Hi, I'm the Dad. I recently retired so I help my boys out with whatever needs to be done, whether it is snow sculpting or working with them in their landscape company. I am married to my wife Karin. I enjoy being outside, working the yard & being with my family. Hunting & fishing are some of my favorite things to do. I love being a grandpa & I am looking forward to adding 2 more to the Bartz crew!
Seth Hanson
My favorite thing about Minnesota is the changing seasons and the north shore. My favorite thing about snow sculpting is the constant problem solving aspect. And a special thanks goes out to my dad for letting me store all the materials and work on sculpting tools in his garage. Especially since I never asked him in the first place.
Caleb Kroeze
Caleb joined the snow sculpting crew after helping with the lobster In 2018. He is from Blaine, MN, and has known the Bartz brothers since high school. A civil engineer by day and a landscaper by evening, he spends his free time enjoying Minnesota’s outdoor recreation opportunities including biking, running, hiking, XC skiing, and playing spikeball with friends. His favorite snow sculpting memory is working for 24 hours straight to finish the snail, but overall enjoys the process of working hard with friends to create a finished product many people can enjoy.
